Forget the Ken Paxton-John Cornyn runoff on Tuesday. The real fight in Texas will take place in San Antonio, where primary winner Maureen Galindo hopes to secure a congressional nomination on the Camp & Castration Platform.
Last weekend, Galindo posted a rambling statement on her campaign’s Instagram account that promised to convert ICE detention facilities into prisons for “American Zionists.” The same statement pledged to commit to using the same camps as a “castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists.”
The statement is still up on the Instagram account, in fact. I screencapped it on Wednesday in anticipation that Galindo or the campaign would take it down, but … crazy lives forever, along with Internet postings:

On Wednesday, the reception from IG users was somewhat mixed. Since then, comments have turned more negative. One user quipped, “They put Brittney in a conservatorship for less crazy s*** than this.” Another observed, “not the first time the Democrats put [a] minority in concentration camps on American soil.”
Two days ago, we might have expected this to be Peak Crazy, especially in West Texas. Nope. Galindo doubled down after her post received national attention, claiming that a local reporter “wants me dead” and took her remarks out of context. Galindo insists that she only wanted “billionaire Zionists” in camps. Furthermore, the real reason that this went viral, Galindo insisted in a video statement yesterday, is because the DCCC has been infiltrated by the billionaire Zionists and are using Bexar County sheriff Johnny Garcia to take her out:
INSANE: Texas Democrat Maureen Galindo goes on an UNHINGED rant against the DCCC and the media saying that Democrats want her dead.
“The ‘internment camp’ comment was made up by a journalist here who literally wants me dead. Who literally, I believe, wants me dead. The DCCC… pic.twitter.com/GnfgElEJSk

“I never said I want Jews in internment camps,” Galindo said. “I said I want to close all ICE detention centers and put billionaire American Zionists who are funding the genocidal prison systems involved in trafficking into prison.”
“If they committed a crime, do they not belong in prison?” she added.
“I’m against all internment camps and would like to see them all shut down ASAP, starting with the many in South Texas,” Galindo said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities.
Galindo accused the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) of coordinating statements against her in an effort to back her primary runoff opponent, Johnny Garcia, a former hostage negotiator and public information officer for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. She also accused a local journalist, whom she claimed “literally wants me dead,” of fabricating the “internment camps” comment.
This argument might make more sense if Galindo hadn’t still had her original IG post active. Galindo even helpfully put the statement out in a text format, seen in the last frame of the post. The statement accuses “billionaire Zionists” of controlling trafficking networks in south Texas in its first paragraph, but the promise of imprisonment in the former ICE detention facilities includes all “American Zionists.” She also accuses these same “Zionists” of “committing genocide on the indigenous Jews … of the Middle East,” will would certainly be news to the Mizrahi in Israel, especially after October 7.
Once again, I’ll screencap it just in case Galindo or her team have a sudden outbreak of sanity or shame, but I feel a lot more confident that it’s not necessary at this point:
Read the statement for yourself and compare it to Galindo’s response. It’s true that the statement never used the term “internment camps,” but when you talk about rounding up and detaining Zionists, it’s difficult to blame people for making the connection to the obvious historical parallel. That’s doubly true when pledging to convert the same facilities into “castration processing centers” that will mainly target “Zionists.”
As for the supposed Zionist infiltration of the DCCC … bwahahahahahahahahaha. Democrats around the country have rushed headlong to embrace Hasan Piker and the anti-Israel progressive Left. Chuck Schumer is wrapping his arms around Graham Platner and his Totenkopf tattoo, while the Obama Bros insist that they have to fight fascism by contextualizing Platner’s Nazi fascinations. Zohran Mamdani has done nothing to prevent Hamas supporters from conducting pogroms against New York City’s Jewish communities.
Galindo’s a nut, to be sure, but she’s a lot closer to the DCCC and the Democrat establishment than any of them will admit. The DCCC wants to distance itself from Galindo, but she’s a creature of the environment that Democrats have created, especially since the October 7 massacres.
Update: Axios reports that the DCCC will drop a last-minute ad campaign to attack Galindo:
Driving the news: The DCCC is launching a $35,000 ad buy against Galindo ahead of the May 26 runoff, a spokesperson told Axios.
- The ad takes aim at Galindo’s “conspiracies” and “hateful words,” honing in on alleged GOP spending to support her and labeling her “MAGA Maureen.”
This is many days late and many dollars short. Galindo won the primary in March, edging ahead of her runoff opponent Johnny Garcia by about 1200 votes. Despite her anti-Semitic rhetoric at the time, the DCCC sat on its hands until now – when early voting has nearly finished. And $35,000 is hardly a statement when it comes to campaign spending, even in a congressional primary in San Antonio. This is nothing more than a CYA effort from the DCCC, and Garcia’s campaign has a real beef with them if he chooses to push it.
