Wu, Hoo Now? More Boston City Hall Hijinks – HotAir

As progressive mayors go, it’s hard to top Boston’s Michelle Wu for pure illustrative purposes as far as the dysfunction of the category.

From indulging in her own unashamed racial biases to imposing them on her little fiefdom, to hiring some of the wildest miscreants ever to darken a city hall’s doors, the petite mayor with the monster ego stands like a giant of malicious incompetence among most of her peers.

And once again, her sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion before merit-driven peopling of the various offices in her administration is providing fodder for the local papers, news broadcasts, and teeth-grinding angst for the few rational residents who really want to see the backside of the whole Wu thing.

For a quick ‘Boston City Hall Employee of the Month’ refresher so far, we have: Who bit who, the supervisor implicated in that is still a Wu-ing boss man about town, and the black, queer, femme leader who is (was?) a City Deputy Director with a vicious left hook.

All this in just a few months.

In my best Billy Mays voice…

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

Let me introduce you to the latest sterling member of Michelle Wu’s glittering DEI Higher Hires Club, one Nasiru Ibrahim.

Mr Ibrahim is a young, 25-year-old member of the feisty City Hall staff, working in the property management department.

Being youthful and all that, he had his car tricked out in such a fashion that, as he tooled around Boston after work, it caught the attention of a Massachusetts State Trooper on the 30th of July. The windows were tinted substantially darker than legally allowed. It’s a common enough infraction here as well.

The trooper pulled the lad over to cite him for the dark-tinted windows and caught a whiff of the ganja weed as he talked to what seemed to be a very twitchy Mr. Ibrahim.

Well, gosh. Didn’t that encounter go sideways when Mr Ibrahim…how do I put this…overreacted severely.

Mr Ibrahim is in a heap o’ trouble

…But as the trooper reached for the bag, he wrote in his report, “Ibrahim abruptly yanked it away toward the passenger side and then placed the vehicle into drive in an attempt to flee.”

Body camera and dashcam video obtained by 5 Investigates shows the trooper diving into the vehicle’s window as he tries to put the car into park.

“Stop, dude! You’re going to make this worse!” the trooper yells.

“You’re going to (expletive) kill somebody, dude. You’re going to (expletive) kill somebody,” the trooper is heard yelling on the body camera video.

The trooper states that he got the vehicle into park, but that Ibrahim was still struggling so he used his Taser on Ibrahim. Despite that, Ibrahim put the vehicle into drive again.

That led the trooper to drop his Taser so he could put the car back in park.

Then, the trooper wrote, Ibrahim grabbed the Taser and used it on him.

“I felt an intense electric current surge through my upper torso, causing excruciating pain,” the trooper wrote.

The trooper punched Ibrahim twice in the face before Ibrahim surrendered. An off-duty Boston Police officer who was nearby came over to assist, and Ibrahim was arrested.

As for what was in ‘the bag’ once that poor trooper could dig through it without being in fear for his life? Well, totally ironic.

…When the dust settled, officers found the real scandal: a Glock converted into a machine gun with an illegal switch, wrapped neatly in city swag. The weapon wasn’t just illegal—it was a taxpayer-branded embarrassment.

The little burp gun was all swaddled in an official City of Boston sweatshirt – logo and everything.

…Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to five felony gun charges. Prosecutors wanted him locked up without bail, but a judge set bond at $750,000. His lawyer is already trying to flip the script, saying the stop itself was questionable.

Why did prosecutors want him locked up without bail, besides the fact he tried to drive off with a trooper hanging out of the car and then tsed him with his own weapon?

As if that wasn’t enough, this city of Boston employee was already a convicted gun and assault felon…say, WHUT?

Some Boston city councilors were having understandable conniption fits, while Mayor Wu, woke island of calm in a sea of progressive chaos that she is, said, ‘Come on now. It’s not SO bad.’

Could be worse.

…Wu said the city vetted Nasiru Ibrahim, a 25-year-old property management employee, but said the allegations a city councilor made this week about his prior criminal record — when Ed Flynn said Ibrahim was jailed for five years on an alleged assault to murder conviction — do not match the documents she’s seen.

“There was a screening process, and as I understand it, there’s some clear discrepancies between what some are saying on that record in the media, and what it actually says, and the documents that I have seen,” Wu told reporters Thursday at an unrelated event.

Wu acknowledged the city was aware that Ibrahim, who was arrested after a violent encounter with a State Police trooper last month during a routine traffic stop in South Boston, had a criminal record when he was hired.

…While Ibrahim copped to having been previously arrested on a firearms offense during the traffic stop, per the police report and video, Wu disputed allegations that his criminal record was as serious as it was described this week by Councilor Flynn, when asked whether the employee was worthy of being a reentry hire.

“Some of the allegations that I’ve seen describing that in the media so far from others, for example on the city council, do not match the facts,” Wu said.

Flynn had described Ibrahim as allegedly having a “seven-page criminal record, including convictions for assault to murder, charges that led to a five-year prison sentence,” at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

Wu has reluctantly fired the misunderstood Mr Ibrahim in any event.

*sigh*

Because it’s just not ‘okay.’

…“This individual is in the process of being terminated,” Wu said. “Having an illegal weapon as a city employee or as any member of society is not OK and that certainly disqualifies anyone from being a part of our City of Boston workforce.”

Somehow, they had also missed the Level 3 (the worst) sex offender working for the Parks and Recreation Department, too, so Mr Ibrahim, had he kept his nose clean, could have probably retired and no one the wiser.

Weird that such a nice guy didn’t take advantage of a good break.

It’s a wild ride with only the best and brightest, from the top on down in Bean Town.
