National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has canceled security clearances for a host of former Biden officials and others involved in Trump legal cases.
Former President Joseph R. Biden will also stop receiving the President’s Daily Brief, a summary of the most important issues facing the country.
“I have revoked security clearances and barred access to classified information for Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg and Andrew Weissman, along with the 51 signers of the Hunter Biden ’disinformation’ letter,” Ms. Gabbard wrote in an X post Monday. “The President’s Daily Brief is no longer being provided to former President Biden.”
Mr. Blinken and Mr. Sullivan are the former secretary of state and national security adviser, respectively. Ms. Monaco oversaw prosecutions of those who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, for which Mr. Trump pardoned everyone involved.
Mr. Zaid is a lawyer who has represented intelligence whistleblowers for years. In an X post, he asked where his “due process protections” are.
“You are familiar with Executive Order 12,968, are you not? Still in effect!” he wrote in response to Ms. Gabbard’s X post. The order he refers to protects federal employees who work with classified information.
Mr. Eisen is a former ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Andrew Weissmann was involved in the financial crime case against Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman.
Ms. James is the New York attorney general, and Alvin Bragg is the Manhattan district attorney. Both had cases brought against Mr. Trump, finding he committed fraud with his New York business and finding him guilty regarding his business records.
The 51 former officials signed a letter in 2020 arguing that the contents from Hunter Biden’s laptop were all just part of a “Russian information operation.”
Mr. Trump has said before he will revoke security clearances and signed an executive order on his first day in office directing that be done.
He took away Mr. Biden’s in February and stopped security clearances for lawyers working at Covington & Burling, which helped special counsel Jack Smith, and at Perkins Coie, which was involved in the Russia hoax.
