Tuesday’s Final Word — UPDATED – HotAir

Looting the tabs

Ed: Alternate headline — A Bat LEO suspect meets bats. Laying hands on a police officer or his/her mount is a felony in most jurisdictions. The LAPD has apparently stopped playing around now that the National Guard is around to back them up. Good.

About three hours into the third day of the immigration protests in downtown Los Angeles, a dozen or so protesters started breaking up large rocks lining the gap between the street and an off-ramp and hurling them onto the 101 Freeway below. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) had closed the southbound side after protesters had tried to seize it. Police cars and SUVs were parked there, and they were getting pummeled by the rocks. As one officer drove away, a rock smashed the police car’s windshield. (You can watch some of this scene in a video by The Free Press’s Austyn Jeffs here.)

This went on for at least an hour. I didn’t see anyone get arrested.

When one of the rock-throwing protesters saw me taking pictures, he ordered me to delete the ones that showed anyone who was unmasked. “We’ll fuck you up,” he threatened. I deleted them; he gave me a fist bump.

Ed: This piece is interesting for its perspective, largely opposed to any enforcement activity in Los Angeles. Even with that, though, Woodhouse is very clear that these are not “peaceful” protests, and those who want to peacefully demonstrate are largely at the mercy of the violent radicals. That’s a failure of government to protect its citizens no matter what the cause or policy is.

Ed: Pretty sure this woman will be memed by the end of the day. Get your requests in now!

On Monday, Newsom posted, “Do YOUR job. We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. Rescind the order. Return control to California,” in response to an earlier post from Vance demanding that Newsom take control of the situation.

Vance posted photos of an assault on a Border Patrol vehicle and a flaming car, both of which occurred before Trump announced his involvement. “Gavin Newsom says he didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. Both of these photos were taken before the president authorized the National Guard to go protect our Border Patrol in California. Does this look like ‘no problem’?” Vance wrote.

Ed: Attacks on police are not a problem for Newsom, apparently.

Ed: She does a great Baghdad Bob impression, I have to admit.

Kamala Harris is “not right for the job” of California governor, Tad Weber said at The Fresno Bee. The right candidate “must prioritize pocketbook issues central to the lives of the middle class,” but it will be difficult for Harris to make that case. She, after all, served in a Biden Administration that “brought high inflation back to America” despite economists’ warnings. The next governor must focus on “making California affordable again.”

“Of course Kamala Harris should run for governor,” Stephanie Finucane said at The Sacramento Bee. She is not a perfect candidate, but her resume is “unmatched by any of the dozen or so serious candidates” who have already thrown their hats in the ring for the 2026 election. The next governor will “face enormous challenges” in the face of the climate crisis, homelessness and natural disasters. The gubernatorial field “will be stronger if her name is on the primary ballot.”

Ed: Only because it will allow other candidates to beef up by using her as a crash-test dummy. Harris can’t even get through softball interviews, and we’ve already seen what happens to her in competitive primaries. Besides, Harris will be a symbol of the gaslighting Democrat conspiracy to keep Joe Biden’s senility a ‘secret’ from voters.

Ed: This is nothing more than Marxist claptrap about property belonging to no one except the state or society. The Marxists despise the property-owning class and the cruelty is part of the strategy.

Four senior Biden White House aides agreed to testify to the House Oversight Committee as part of its probe into former President Joe Biden’s ailing health while in office, according to a committee aide.

Their testimony schedule:

— Neera Tanden, former director of the Domestic Policy Council, on June 24

— Anthony Bernal, former senior adviser to the First Lady, on June 26

— Ashley Williams, former deputy director of Oval Office operations, on July 11

Annie Tomasini, former deputy chief of staff, on July 18

Ed: I’m not sure whether this is the best strategy — to start out with the reported Politburo that ran the Biden Regency. There are two schools of thought: work your way in from the outside, or start with the main suspects and set perjury traps. Maybe James Comer is employing the latter. We’ll see, but I’d expect a lot of Sharp As A Tack® testimony from these five.

Did Greta Thunberg refuse to watch footage of Hamas’s October 7 atrocities? That’s the accusation being made by Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz. Greta and her crew, upon their arrival in Israel last night, were taken into a room to be shown the harrowing truth of what Hamas did 20 months ago, says Katz. But when the video started rolling, and “they saw what it was about,” they “refused to continue watching,” he alleges.

This is a serious charge. Thunberg and her fellow sailors should address it with haste. For if what Katz is saying is true, if they really did look away upon being shown footage of the torture and slaughter of the Jews of Southern Israel, then we need to know why. To shut one’s eyes to the grim reality of Hamas’s anti-Semitic barbarism is to be willfully blind to one of the great horrors of our age – did you do that, Greta?

Ed: Would it surprise anyone if she did? See below.

===

===

Ed: She’s a coward. Why didn’t she cross over into Gaza and join the “resistance”? Because Thunberg knows exactly what the terrorists would do to her. She’s a cosplaying idiot, nothing more.

UPDATE: There is no way I could left this for tomorrow. Ladies and gentlement, here is the “caring” Left in a nutshell, sneering at a black woman over her concern for earning a living to support her children. “Work,” he chortled. Via Twitchy:
