The New York Times Taken In By, or Conspired With(?) Deep State Hoaxers – HotAir

I suspect that The New York Times’ reporters were part of the conspiracy, or at least suspected that they were being fed a line of BS, but it is just possible that these reporters are so hostile and deranged that they wanted to believe this story despite its implausibility.

The claim? That Elon Musk is now being briefed on our war plans should our Cold War with China get hot.

Needless to say, if that were true it would hardly be illegal–Elon has held a Top Secret security clearance for years because he runs SpaceX, which launches some of the most secret military satellites ever built. He is already a key part of our military and intelligence world.

But plotting war with China is not part of his portfolio, and it would be unusual for him to be shown information about which he has no need to know.

Both Trump and the Secretary of Defense’s office have denied the story, but that doesn’t seem to bother the Time’s reporters a bit. They acknowledge the denial but continue to treat the story as true in their reporting–taking the word of unnamed officials who clearly have a beef with Trump, Elon, and Hegseth.

Deep state members have proven to be unreliable and willing to break the law in order to damage Trump. When “officials” have to be frog-marched out of offices by police after vandalizing their agencies you know the #resistance is willing to go to any lengths to protect their power.

The Pentagon was scheduled on Friday to brief Elon Musk on the U.S. military’s plan for any war that might break out with China, two U.S. officials said on Thursday.

Another official said the briefing would be China focused, without providing additional details. A fourth official confirmed Mr. Musk was to be at the Pentagon on Friday, but offered no details.

Hours after news of the planned meeting was published by The New York Times, Pentagon officials and President Trump denied that the session would be about military plans involving China. “China will not even be mentioned or discussed,” Mr. Trump said in a late-night social media post.

It was not clear if the briefing for Mr. Musk would go ahead as originally planned. But providing Mr. Musk access to some of the nation’s most closely guarded military secrets would be a dramatic expansion of his already extensive role as an adviser to Mr. Trump and leader of his effort to slash spending and purge the government of people and policies they oppose.

See what they did there? They note that the story has been denied, then move on to describe “facts” that are pure invention. And with five reporters on this fake news story, you know that there was lots of room for invention.

The story really IS remarkable, filled with details from people who both illegally leaked from the Pentagon and did so to promote a hoax, all carefully constructed to create an issue out of thin air.

It would also bring into sharp relief the questions about Mr. Musk’s conflicts of interest as he ranges widely across the federal bureaucracy while continuing to run businesses that are major government contractors. In this case, Mr. Musk, the billionaire chief executive of both SpaceX and Tesla, is a leading supplier to the Pentagon and has extensive financial interests in China.

Pentagon war plans, known in military jargon as O-plans or operational plans, are among the military’s most closely guarded secrets. If a foreign country were to learn how the United States planned to fight a war against them, it could reinforce its defenses and address its weaknesses, making the plans far less likely to succeed.

The top-secret briefing that exists for the China war plan has about 20 to 30 slides that lay out how the United States would fight such a conflict. It covers the plan beginning with the indications and warning of a threat from China to various options on what Chinese targets to hit, over what time period, that would be presented to Mr. Trump for decisions, according to officials with knowledge of the plan.

See what they did there? Invented a meeting about war with China that will never happen, then spun a yarn about how this is dangerous and nothing but a gift to Elon, who may be planning to leak details to China because he builds and sells cars there.

The New York Times is the favorite place for lefties to drop anonymous leaks of dubious reliability intended to hurt Republicans or even their fellow Democrats who they want to take down. The reporters value their inside sources and love to be part of the power dynamic. The truth or falsity of the leak means nothing to them.

How many leaks have the Times printed that have turned out to be lies? Countless. How many times has the paper retracted the lies and exposed the liars? None. And folks–no reporter owes confidentiality to a source who lies. That is part of the deal–I will maintain your anonymity unless you lie. That last part is vital–the alternative is for the reporter to be the conduit of lies without recourse–sacrificing their credibility for the liar.

The Wall Street Journal also reported the story, which seems to lend credibility–two sources, right?–except they no doubt are relying on the same leakers in the first place. High-level officials who are unhappy with Trump and Hegseth and are trying to damage them. This is a repeat of the Comey leaks about Trump and the Steele Dossier. Same strategy and tactics. A presumably high-minded and reliable source just doing the nation a favor.

Unfortunately, you can’t prove a negative, and this story will hang out there. No amount of denials will sufficie–who can trust TRUMP?! OR MUSK?! OR HEGSETH?!

Trust our anonymous sources instead!

Can I be certain that Musk was not going to get a briefing on war with China? Of course not–you can’t prove a negative.

But the idea that you can trust The New York Times or even The Wall Street Journal to not spread hoaxes given to them by Deep State bureaucrats and/or political actors wanting to hurt Trump is absurd on its face.

Remember the Steele Dossier? The Hunter Biden laptop? Biden is “sharp as a tack?” The “fine people” hoax?

If you don’t know by now that you can’t trust the Pravda Media to tell you the truth, there is little hope for you. Your brain is broken by Trump Derangement Syndrome.
