Stephen A. Smith regrets voting for Kamala Harris.
In an appearance on Fox News, the outspoken sports commentator said that in the weeks since the election, President-elect Donald Trump has given him reason for optimism while Democrats have trashed his trust.
“I don’t think anybody could dismiss Donald Trump at this particular moment in time and not just because of him but because of what we’ve seen the Democrats do. We’re not falling for it any longer. The American people aren’t falling for it any longer,” Mr. Smith told host Mark Levin.
“I voted Democrat. And I gotta tell you something right now — I don’t like the fact that I did. I don’t like what I’m seeing,” said Mr. Smith, one of the few high-profile liberals willing to appear regularly on Fox News.
He explained that he couldn’t bring himself to vote Mr. Trump because of character-related issues and fear that he would govern in divisive and self-serving ways.
Not any more.
“I don’t wanna hear about ’the law; we’re about the law. Nobody’s above the law. Nobody’s above the law.’ But then you go out and you pardon your son and you try to blame everybody else for it,” he told a smiling Mr. Levin.
He also accused the Democrats of extremism on issues, concluding that “I don’t wanna hear about ’defund the police.’ I don’t wanna hear about how there should be open borders I don’t wanna hear this stuff and I don’t think most of the American people want to hear that.”
