Southwest flight delayed after woman stripped naked and demanded to be let off

A Southwest Airlines flight from Houston to Phoenix was delayed earlier this week after a female passenger stripped naked in an attempt to get off the aircraft.

Southwest flight 733 had left the gate at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston Monday afternoon when the woman got up from her seat, removed her clothes and asked to be let off the aircraft.

“She turned toward us and stripped all of her clothes off. She then proceeded to make her way back toward the front of the plane and started banging on the cockpit doors asking to be let in and she was screaming,” another passenger, who requested to remain anonymous, told KHOU-TV.

The naked woman’s outburst lasted about 25 minutes, according to KTRK-TV, before the plane returned to the gate.

At the gate, the plane was met by Houston Police Department personnel. The woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, was taken for a medical evaluation, HPD told KHOU-TV, with no charges being filed.

The flight ended up leaving Houston for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport nearly 90 minutes late, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.

“We’ve reached out to customers to apologize for the delay in their travels and appreciate their patience as our teams worked to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible,” Southwest told the Arizona Republic.

Part of that apology includes compensation. The other passengers on flight 733 were offered a $50 voucher for future travel for their troubles, according to aviation news site Paddle Your Own Kanoo.
