The former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia who was found dead in her Alexandria home in March died of epilepsy in her sleep, according to a recently released medical report.

Jessica Aber was 43 years old when she succumbed to “sudden unexpected death in epilepsy” on March 22, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Northern Virginia reported this week.

Aber was nominated to be U.S. attorney by former President Biden and was confirmed by the Senate in 2021. She resigned about two months ago after President Trump took office.

She had served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia beginning in 2009.
