Donald Trump accuses Harris campaign of breaking the law by spending millions on celebrities

President-elect Donald Trump accused Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign of running afoul of the law by shoveling millions toward Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Ms. Harris’ campaign raised over $1 billion during her bid for the White House and reportedly blew through the same amount in her losing effort against Mr. Trump. Her campaign came under criticism in the immediate aftermath of the election for its spending habits, and now Mr. Trump is putting a spotlight on the money trail.

“Are the Democrats allowed to pay $11,000,000, $2,000,000, and $500,000 to get the ENDORSEMENT of Beyonce, Oprah, and Reverend Al? I don’t think so,” Mr. Trump posted Saturday on Truth Social.

“Beyonce didn’t sing, Oprah didn’t do much of anything (she called it ‘expenses’), and Al is just a third rate Con Man,” he continued. “So what is going on here??? Totally against the law, and I have heard there are many others!!!”

There is no clear evidence that the Harris campaign directly paid any of the celebrities for their backing.

Still, filings from the Federal Election Commission showed that the campaign paid Ms. Winfrey’s Harpo Productions $1 million, though she has insisted she didn’t take a dime personally from the campaign.

And Mr. Sharpton’s nonprofit National Action Network received $500,000 from the Harris campaign before he interviewed Ms. Harris, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

The Harris campaign also spent roughly $15 million on “event production,” according to FEC filings. The filing dates coincide with big-name concerts and campaign rallies featuring rapper 2 Chainz in Georgia and the Isley Brothers in Wisconsin.
