The official Democratic Party X account has deleted a social media post about the relationship between President Donald Trump and disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The deleted X post claimed that documents showed that Trump spent time with Epstein during Thanksgiving in 2017, according to a report from The Washington Examiner.
Before the Democrat X account posted about the alleged Thanksgiving encounter, Democrat members of Congress were posting the claim on X. “Trump spent his first Thanksgiving after getting elected President with Jeffrey Epstein,” Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill., claimed on X.
The email included a photo of alleged email correspondence between Epstein and NEXT Model Management founder Faith Kates on Nov. 23, 2017 in which Epstein appears to claim that “Trump” would be “down there” for Thanksgiving.
“These emails prove literally nothing. Democrats and the mainstream media are desperately trying to use this hoax as a distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight,” Abigail Jackson, a White House spokeswoman, told The Daily Signal.
“We won’t be distracted, and the entire Administration will continue fulfilling the promises the President was elected on, including cutting the Biden-era price hikes,” she added.
As was widely reported at the time, Trump spent Thanksgiving in 2017 at Mar-a-Lago and areas near it. The president took a trip to Lake Worth Inlet Station on the holiday where he conversed with members of the Coast Guard and had a video call Thanksgiving morning from his Florida estate to U.S. service members stationed abroad. He also spent time at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach before having dinner with his family.
The president has previously stated that he had removed Epstein years prior from his club for hiring spa workers out from under Trump.
Epstein, who is known to have associated with prominent Democrats such as former President Bill Clinton, died in his jail cell in August 2019 after being arrested on federal sex trafficking charges. He had previously been convicted in 2008 by the Florida state court system of procuring a child for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute.
Epstein appears to have despised Trump from some of the email exchanges released by House Oversight Democrats this week. One email sent just a few months before Thanksgiving in 2017 had the convicted sex offender bemoaning that he had never encountered someone “as bad as trump [sic].”
Epstein has been a topic of intense media coverage in recent weeks as House Democrats and some Republican members of Congress have pushed legislation to release the so-called Epstein files, which are documents the Department of Justice reportedly has on Epstein and his associates. The bill to do this is scheduled for a vote on the House floor next week, and if it passes will be sent to the Senate for consideration.
Trump posted on Truth Social Friday that “the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures … “
“I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him,” he added.
Trump also wrote, “This is another Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats. Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his ‘Island.’”
The Daily Signal has reached out to the Democratic Party for comment.
