The Metropolitan Police Department arrested three boys ages 12, 13 and 14 over their purported roles in armed carjackings last year and last month.
The 12-year-old, a resident of Northeast, was arrested Tuesday on charges of armed carjacking with a gun on July 3. MPD did not say where the arrest took place.
Just before 5 a.m., the victim in the case stood near a car in the 2800 block of 11th Street NW when the suspect approached, pulled out a gun and demanded the vehicle. The victim complied, and the boy drove away.
The teens, who live in Southeast, were also arrested Tuesday for a carjacking on March 6. Just after 7 p.m., they approached the victim along the 1700 block of 16th Street SE, then brandished a gun and demanded the vehicle. The victim got out and let them take the car and flee the scene.
