Biden sounds upbeat about cancer treatment

Former President Joe Biden said people are optimistic about treating his prostate cancer.

In his first comments since making his diagnosis public, he told reporters Friday in Delaware, “The prognosis is good. We’re working on everything. It’s moving along, and I feel good.”

He said he chose treatment options that involve taking a pill.

Last year, Mr. Biden started running for a second term before an incoherent performance in the June presidential debate sparked calls for him to drop out.

He did so, with Vice President Kamala Harris taking over the top of the Democratic ticket and losing to Donald Trump.

When asked Friday about concerns from Democrats that he should’ve dropped out earlier, Mr. Biden responded: “Why didn’t they run against me then?

“Because I would’ve beaten them.”

Concerns over Mr. Biden’s mental fitness are still in the spotlight. President Trump has repeatedly questioned the former president’s use of an autopen to sign executive orders and pardons.

A recent book written by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson detailed the extent of Mr. Biden’s mental decline while in office.
