Going back to the wealth tax, I wrote a post here about why it’s loss in California was important.
Basically, the progressive economists behind this thing, plus Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna and others were really setting this up to prove that a wealth tax was palatable. If it were to pass, it would likely tee up a nationwide version at some point down the line, maybe even become a big issue in 2028.
But a loss tonight, esp. on a night when Democrats are having such success, will be a warning. Don’t go there. It’s a loser. Of course Bernie Sanders won’t get the message but sane Democrats will.
