Trump’s Board of Peace Selects Former Biden Admin Official for Key Role

President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace appointed former Biden administration official Shelley Greenspan to an outreach role to build bipartisan support for the commander in chief’s Gaza peace proposal.

Axios reported Monday that Greenspan previously served as the White House’s Jewish community liaison under President Joe Biden.

Trump’s peace plan is expected to be resurrected after next week’s midterm elections.

Israel is also set to hold a national general election Tuesday, which could reshape the country’s government and alter U.S. strategy.

Greenspan’s appointment could hint that the White House is preparing for a potentially divided government if Democrats gain ground in Congress.

She worked at the State Department and served on the White House National Security Council during the Biden administration.

In her new role, Greenspan is expected to be a go-between, working with members of Congress and experts on Middle Eastern affairs.

What do you think about bipartisan support for Trump’s Gaza peace proposal?

“Shelley brings deep experience working across the aisle, having earned the trust of Democrats and Republicans alike through her service at the White House, National Security Council, and State Department in Democratic and Republican administrations,” the Board of Peace said in a statement.

“Sustained, bipartisan support from Congress is essential to the work ahead, and Shelley is uniquely capable of leading this effort,” the statement continued.

Greenspan also issued a statement, saying that she shares Trump’s “vision for peace and prosperity in the Middle East.”

“I saw how the President’s 20-Point Plan can tangibly deliver for the peoples of Gaza and Israel,” she explained. “I look forward to continuing that work with the Board.”

Axios pointed out that even high-level Democrats, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, support Trump’s Gaza framework.

In August, however, Israeli officials refused the Gaza peace plan put forward by the Board of Peace, which stated that Hamas would gradually disarm as Israeli troops pull out of Gaza.

“The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed. And when I say the disarming of Hamas, it means heavy weaponry, lighter weaponry, all weaponry. And we are talking about genuine disarmament, not fictitious disarmament,” Netanyahu said.

“Right now, we are talking with the Americans about this issue. They have ideas, some of which are acceptable to us and some of which are unacceptable, and we know how to stand firm against these things,” he concluded.
