‘You’re Bailing?!’ Ken Griffin Confirms ‘Miami Nice’ – HotAir

BUWAHAhahaha!!!!

This is absolutely one of the most delicious three-second, interviewer-in-shock questions I’ve ever heard. Citadel CEO Ken Griffin was being interviewed at a Milken Global Conference 2026 event just a few short hours ago.

Turned pretty newsworthy pretty quickly.

YOU’RE BAILING?!?!

As in ‘bailing out’ of New York City?

And the answer is going to rock someone’s world.

I can’t wipe this grin off my face.

I can’t.

And the man was quite affable as he explained, once the interviewer got over her shock, why he was leaving.

Basically, he told her, ‘The mayor has made it clear we’re not welcome, and I’m okay with that.’ The man and his business have options, and he has never been afraid to exercise them.

And really – what’s the point of being somewhere you’re not wanted? Worse, a place that’s openly hostile.

Doesn’t seem prudent or necessary to subject yourself to abuse you have no obligation to endure.

Hedge fund Citadel is “doubling down” on its Miami ventures, revising its plans in the city to make the firm’s office building ‌larger, CEO Ken Griffin said at the 2026 Milken Institute Conference on Tuesday.

Griffin said during the Milken event that Mamdani’s video in front of his home was “creepy and weird.”

The new tax, which would impose an added annual charge on second houses, condos and co-ops valued at over $5 million if the owner doesn’t list them as their permanent residence, fuels the debate over a potential exodus of New York City’s mega-rich.

You know, Mamdani’s making it really clear: New York doesn’t welcome success,” Griffin said on Tuesday. “Are these states trying to push away from their populations those who really do believe in ‌the merits of capitalism, the merits of a free society, the importance of education?”

CREEPY AND WEIRD

Oh, yeah, it was. I’d add intentionally threatening, because who would have ever paid attention until Mamdani pointed out the home of a lowkey bazillionaire in a rage-baiting video about income inequity.

ONE OF THOSE OLIGARCHS LIVES RIGHT HERE

Just for fun and to clarify what a bigger headquarters building in Miami means, where all these honkin’ huge salaries will now be income tax-free, let’s revisit what New York City stands to lose if Citadel moves any of these folks out of the currently broke Big Apple. All courtesy of the mayor’s creepy, cutesy, Eat the Rich stunt.

…If Griffin takes them to Miami, it would be catastrophic for the New Yorkers Mamdani claims to champion – bars, restaurants, small businesses, support jobs, etc…

not to mention philanthropy, secondary/spillover spending, and the obvious tax revenue hit…

Aw, oops!

Lots of people, including the mayor, will be going WAAH! WAAH! WAAH!

WAAH! WAAH! WAAH!

…all through the town.

And the mayor had better watch out for the wheels on the bus. The governor may be driving it long before voters have their chance.

ZOMG I would pay good money right now to be a fly on Kathy Hochul’s wall when she hears this. I mean, she’s busy begging people to come back from Miami and bring friends with checkbooks, and here the smug little bearded communist in subsidized housing is chasing them out.

She is going to be apoplectic with rage.

What should give the governor even bigger willies is the fact that it wasn’t just Griffin with a legitimate beef dinging on Mamdani.

Oh, no, no, no.

The billionaire class is coalescing. A school of shiny predators might be forming to take a chunk out of the smarmy socialist punk.

Vornado Realty Trust chairman Steve Roth went off on Zohran Mamdani in an earnings call on Tuesday, calling the mayor’s public mugging of billionaire Ken Griffin a “blunder” and an “ugly, unnecessary video stunt.”

It was about time New York City’s heavy hitters in real estate finally came off the ropes against the communistic mayor.

Back on Feb. 12, I implored them to show some guts standing up to Mamdani, whom some top builders, eager to curry favor, foolishly praised for “listening to our concerns.” But Mamdani’s stupid and potentially catastrophic video finally spurred them to action.

Roth voiced outrage on the earnings call.

“We are all shocked that our young mayor would pull this stunt in front of Ken’s home and single him out for ridicule,” Roth said on a Tuesday earnings call. “This was both irresponsible and dangerous.

The book would be a great gesture if only ninth graders in the city could read at that level.

We want to be in a state that embraces business, that embraces education, that embraces personal freedom and liberty, and that embraces people having an opportunity to live the American dream.”  ~ Ken Griffin

But it would ruin everything for communists like Mamdani and the teachers’ unions if they could.

So they make sure they can’t.
