Welcome to Oceana, Home of Ingsoc – HotAir

I keep writing about Britain, but as Beege would say, “I just can’t…”

Earlier today, I wrote about the sorry state of the country’s military, which, with perhaps the exception of its Special Forces, is in a really sorry state.

The country that ruled the waves a century ago now has only 15 surface combatants, almost none of which are deployable. They managed to limp one into the Mediterranean, only to recall it after its drinking water system broke down. Currently, none of its destroyers is deployable.

It has a few frigates that can sail—I think it is three—so it could theoretically fight off pirates. But after warning Russia that it would seize sanctioned oil tankers should they enter the channel, this happened.

And this…

Serious consequences? You and what navy?

But Britain’s external problems are dwarfed by its growing threat at home, and in this case I am not referring to the Islamist migrants who terrorize ordinary Britons. Instead, I am referring to the government itself.

A British university student is facing prosecution after comparing a Keffiyeh worn by a pro-Palestinian activist to a “tea towel” during Freshers’ Fair at @RoyalHolloway

20-year-old Brodie Mitchell told the President of the Friends of Palestine Society, Huda El-Jamal, that her keffiyeh looked like a “tea towel” after she called him a “wannabe Jew” because he was defending Israel and mocked him for not wearing a Jewish “hat”.

In a classic case of double standards on campus, Brodie was handed a nine-week suspension the following day “for alleged conduct that could be considered hate speech”. He was told his comments were “Islamophobic”, “racist”, and “anti-Palestinian” and was barred from campus and forced to leave his student accommodation.

Surrey Police have now confirmed they have sent a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision — meaning Brodie could face prosecution for saying El-Jamal’s headscarf looked like a “tea towel”. Meanwhile, she faced no disciplinary action and continued her studies as normal.

Welcome to two-tier Britain.

The case could be the first of many, given the Government’s decision to publish an official definition of “anti-Muslim hostility” and encourage universities to embed it in their speech policies. The definition is already being used to silence legitimate criticism of Islam.

Britain has been cracking down on speech for a long time now, and with the new definition of “Islamophobia” being promulgated, the attacks on free speech will get even more draconian.

The crackdown is entirely one-sided. It is common for Muslims to chant about killing Jews, forcing Sharia on British citizens, and to fantasize about exterminating all non-Muslims.

That is, apparently, normal cultural expression, and no big deal. Hell, raping girls is apparently A-Ok, as long as you are Muslim.

You be you.

This is Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, Recorder of Cardiff.

She’s just sentenced a British army veteran Daffron Williams, 41 to two years in prison (with half to be served inside) over Facebook posts made after the Southport child murders.

This is a man who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. A man dealing with PTSD. The judge even acknowledged his service, his character references, and his mental health… and still sent him to jail for words posted online.

One of those posts said “civil war is here” and included anti-Islamic imagery.

At the same time, she’s been locking others up too like 24-year-old David Morgan, who got 20 months for offensive tweets.

But here’s where it gets hard to ignore…

A man called Rees Newman convicted of the historic rape of a girl under 14 stood in front of the same judge for breaching his sex offender conditions…

And she suspended his prison sentence.

Why?

Because prisons are too full.

So let’s get this straight.

A veteran with PTSD goes to prison over Facebook posts.

A convicted child rapist walks free due to overcrowding.

How is that justice? 🤔

Perhaps Keir Starmer isn’t worried about Iran becoming another nuclear armed Muslim country because, after all, that describes Britain as well.

I expect that the reason why the government is doing this is out of fear of its growing radical Muslim population, but perhaps they have other motives,  or perhaps they even believe their own bulls**t. It really doesn’t matter right now.

What does matter is that they don’t share our values. I think both the Brits and the Trump administration now agree on that.

They believe that Islamists are the good guys, that English and American people are the bad guys, and they are embracing Orwellian totalitarianism to enforce their view of the world.

I want nothing to do with that.
