A 9-year-old boy in Illinois burned his face and hands when he microwaved a gel-based toy as part of a TikTok challenge, multiple news outlets report.
Caleb Chabolla, of Plainfield, Illinois, suffered second-degree burns Jan. 20, when he microwaved NeeDoh Nice Cube, described by toymaker Schylling as a “super soft, super stretchy dough filled groovy glob” that children can squeeze, stretch and smash.
Caleb was treated at Loyola Medicine’s Burn Center in Maywood, Illinois, and is recovering at home.
His was the fourth injury resulting from the TikTok challenge this year, officials said.
