‘Trust the Science?’ Even Physics Has Been Infected By Radical Politics – HotAir

Aaron Sibarium is a gift to journalism. He actually does the work, focuses on topics that really matter, and holds the Establishment accountable in the way that journalists pretend they do while spreading enough BS to fertilize the ground for very fecund misinformation farms.

He has hit the nail on the head once again, exposing just how far the Biden administration and its obsession with DEI has gone to destroy science in the name of ideological purity.

You would never think that High Energy Physics would be a scientific field that would be damaged by something as stupid as DEI.

Sure, DEI might do some damage due to the hiring skew that DEI creates, but the science itself should be immune to distortion by such ridiculous matters as genderqueer alphabet ideology.

Not so in Bidenworld. Even in the world of quarks and bosons, it turns out that alphabet ideology and intersectional oppression are relevant, and according to both our prestigious academic institutions and the idiots in Bidenworld there is such a thing as a Physics/gender studies intersecting to create a new particle: the Alpha-Beta Bozo, which is so tiny that it mirrors the sign of a hyper-Leftist brain.

That there is such a person in academia at all would be an occasion for laughing and shaking one’s head. After all, there are plenty of nutters in the academic world, and one more or less makes little difference.

But the Biden administration wanted, and the scientific establishment allowed, such a dangerous idiot to have partial control over the distribution of funds in a wildly expensive–experiments today are tied to multi-billion dollar investments that suck up research dollars that might go elsewhere. Injecting alphabet ideology into Particle Physics or any other kind of physics is a direct attack on the hardest of the hard sciences

Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, a cosmologist at the University of New Hampshire who has suggested that string theory “failed to succeed” because the field has too many white men, was appointed to the High Energy Physics Advisory Panel (HEPAP) under the Biden administration in 2024. The panel advises the Energy Department on research and funding priorities for particle physics, giving it significant say over which projects receive federal support.

Prescod-Weinstein will remain on HEPAP until 2027 unless the Trump administration takes action to remove her. Her role at the Energy Department has rankled some scientists, who say that an institution tasked with directing federal research should not be advised by a woman who, in one 2020 paper, wrote that “Black feminist theory intersectionality should change physics.”

Prescod-Weinstein’s “scientific accomplishments seem modest and her racialist and sexist view of science, combined with her uniquely destructive activism, ought to be disqualifying,” said Sergiu Klainerman, a mathematician at Princeton University who studies the theory of general relativity. “It seems to me incredible that she has a voice on important decisions concerning the DOE physics division.”

This has to stop. Modern science is one of the keys to the success of Western societies, and it is being systematically dismantled in the name of “social justice.” What “social justice” will exist in a society that fails due to ignoring objective reality?

Science is becoming more and more corrupted, and the real-world impacts can be seen everywhere. While High-energy Physics may seem or even be somewhat abstruse, it is important to the overall enterprise of science, and of course we have seen how medicine and biology have been infected with the virus of Leftist orthodoxy.

She first raised eyebrows in 2020 when she argued that a culture of “white empiricism”—in which “only white people” are deemed capable of objectivity—”undermines a significant theory of twentieth-century physics: General Relativity.”

Einstein’s theory is rooted in the “idea that there is no single objective frame of reference that is more objective than any other,” Prescod-Weinstein wrote in Signs, a gender studies journal published by the University of Chicago. “Yet the number of women in physics remains low, especially those of African descent … Given that Black women must, according to Einstein’s principle … have an equal claim to objectivity regardless of their simultaneously experiencing intersecting axes of oppression, we can dispense with any suggestion that the low number of Black women in science indicates any lack of validity on their part as observers.”

Later in the paper, Prescod-Weinstein blamed racism and sexism for the slow pace of scientific discovery in physics. “String theory has failed to succeed in expected ways,” she said, “because the community—which is almost entirely male and disproportionately white relative to other areas of physics—is too homogeneous.”

The argument attracted widespread ridicule from other scientists, including New York University’s Alan Sokal, the physicist who famously conned an academic journal into publishing a paper arguing that quantum gravity was socially constructed.

Prescod-Weinstein “fails to note the most obvious explanation” for string theory’s morass, Sokal wrote: “String theory has failed to succeed in expected ways because the problems being studied are extraordinarily difficult.”

Every aspect of science has been infected by the Alpha-Beta Bozo Particle. COVID “science,” anyone? And so much more: medical students are taught to apply racial filters to the distribution of medical resources, leading us straight toward eugenics and worse.

I don’t want “indigenous ways of understanding” clouding medical research or DEI principles determining who gets access to medical treatments. Both of these are now commonly discussed and taught in our academic institutions.

It is almost impossible to overstate how our most elite institutions, fields of study, sources of information, and government institutions have been warped into unrecognizability by the creeping leftism that is everywhere.

It is costing money, costing lives, eroding our social trust, directly harming people, and distributing power in society by arbitrary means.

Root it all out, raze the academy, and start over fresh.
