Woman hospitalized after hit by Metrobus in Northwest

A pedestrian was hospitalized in the District of Columbia Thursday after she was struck by a Metrobus and trapped beneath it at Seventh Street and P Street NW.

The D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department reported the bus accident on X just before midnight Wednesday. The bus hit the woman, and she couldn’t move under one of its wheels.

By 12:04 a.m., the woman had been freed, and after medical attention at the scene she was taken to a trauma center with critical injuries, fire officials said in subsequent posts on X.

Neither the woman’s identity nor the nature of her injuries was disclosed by D.C. fire or Metro officials.

The exact circumstances of the bus strike and the victim’s entrapment are still unclear, D.C. fire officials told WDVM-TV.

The incident delayed Metrobus Route 70 going southbound, with buses detouring at 7th Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW. The route resumed its regular path at 1:04 a.m. Thursday, Metrobus Info posted on X.
