Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz said Tuesday he has no intention of serving in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration and plans to run again for his House seat in 2026.
Mr. Moskowitz, of Florida, had been rumored in press reports as a top candidate to serve as the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“I appreciate the speculation but I am staying in Congress and running for re-election. It’s an honor to serve the people of Florida’s 23rd district,” Mr. Moskowitz wrote on X.
Although he is a Democrat, the congressman served as an emergency manager under Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, and played a key role in the response to Hurricane Michael in 2018 and the COVID-19 crisis.
He was first elected to Congress in 2022 and has praised Susie Wiles, a Florida contact who will be Mr. Trump’s chief of staff.
He also signed onto a congressional caucus that plans to help Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and their Department of Government Efficiency find ways to slash government spending.
